About Nadine

Meet Your Designer

Nadine Reyes SchmidtNadine Reyes Schmidt created her design business to follow her bliss and change the world one room at a time.  Her dream was to use her artistic talent to create amazing interiors for her clients to enjoy, and in 2007 NRS Design Studio emerged from that dream.  Since the beginning of her career in 1996, Nadine has worked on design projects ranging from home remodels, kitchen designs, one-room makeovers, retail space, medical clinics, professional offices, and even a bar.  She believes the design process should be a partnership with her clients, and has enjoyed designing for a diverse group of clients that includes homeowners, renters, entrepreneurs, teachers, doctors, CEOs, supermoms, empty-nesters, and other busy individuals.  The best part of her job is hearing clients rave that their space turned out exactly the way they hoped, and beyond what they had imagined.

Nadine’s love for design and art began at a young age; she inherited her creativity and attention to detail from her father.  Her grandfather was a builder, so Nadine grew up around construction all her life and LOVES to be involved in how things are built.  This gives her a unique edge in her field because she approaches design not only from an aesthetic perspective, but also from a constructability standpoint.  On projects she often collaborates with architects, contractors, fabricators, and installers– and it is that “team” approach that makes her projects successful.

Nadine’s formal training includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Architecture and an Associate of Arts in Interior Design.  She has earned several honors and recognition throughout her career.  Her renderings were featured in a winning design presentation on HGTV’s “Designer’s Challenge” show, and later published in the 2005 book titled The Best of Designer’s Challenge.  Nadine later earned a certificate from the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), and became a Certified Interior Designer in the state of California.  Recognizing the importance of sustainability in interiors, she earned her LEED AP title in Commercial Interiors.  Although Nadine is taking a break from design exams for now, she does keep up with the latest design practices, innovations, and trends through continuing education trainings throughout the year.

When she’s not wearing her entrepreneurial hat, Nadine enjoys yoga, dance lessons, scrapbooking, travelling, and camping.  But there’s nothing better than a quiet, lazy afternoon spent with her husband, their two cats, and the newest addition to their family– a rambunctious Labrador puppy!
